The Bronx's almost surreal interpretation of hardcore punk quickly found them a large audience in Los Angeles when the band founded in 2002.
Guitarist Joby J. Ford, bassist James Tweedy, vocalist Matt Caughthran, and drummer Jorma Vik are well known for a blistering live show. The quintet attracted attention from major labels after only a handful of performances. An offer from Island/Def Jam materialized after the Bronx's 12th gig, after an independent release the band's full-length debut appeared in August 2003 via the Ferret Records.
A second self-titled album was released on Island Records but the band soon parted ways with Island after the album tour and issued a third release, unofficially known as The Bronx III.
US hard-core punks The Bronx have a self-confessed love for Australian audiences. So when they played The Metro in September it came as no surprise that the gig was one of the best the venue has seen this year.
